The Depth Chart; Left Wing

1. Johnny Gaudreau

Johnny Gaudreau potted his fourth goal of the playoffs in Game 5, as Calgary was eliminated from the playoffs by Anaheim. He gave the Flames a 2-1 lead going into the third period, but the Ducks came from behind and won the game by a score of 3-2 in overtime. Gaudreau finished the postseason with a three-game point streak and nine points in 11 outings. He was solid in the playoffs and solid in the regular season. Ending the regular season with 64 points, (24g,40a) is what earned Johnny the honors of being within the final three for the calder trophy for rookie of the year. Look for more of the same from Johnny Gaudreau in the future.

2. Mason Raymond

Forwards Mason Raymond and Markus Granlund will be joined by defenseman Corey Potter as they watch Game One against Anaheim from the press box. Unfortunately, there isn’t much fantasy value to be found here. Not point, hits, blocks, or anything substantial. To wit, Coach Hartley has rookies Drew Shore, Josh Jooris, and Tyler Wotherspoon in their place tonight. Mason Raymond definitely is not on the uphill of his career and in fact was scratched multiple time this season, whether it be regular season or playoffs. He is still number two because quite frankly the Flames depth on Left Wing is not that fantastic. He was a meh player this year only putting up 23 points in 53 contests. He definitely does not look the same as he did in Vancouver a few years ago.

3. Lance Bouma

Lance Bouma had undergone surgery to repair a broken index finger. Bouma needed a rod and eight screws to fix his finger. He had 16 goals and 34 points in 78 contests in 2014-15 and played in Calgary’s final two playoff contests. Lance Bouma had a pretty good season, he has been growing the past couple of seasons to become a solid grinder who battles hard, game in game out. He is impressive and the fans seem to like his style. I like what I see from Lance Bouma and if he improves on the offensive side of the game he might surpass Raymond. He had a career year this year posting 34 points in 78 contests. Look for more out of Lance Bouma next season.

4. Brandon Bollig

Brandon Bollig said that he was happily surprised when he came over to Calgary this season. His team never quit and came back in so many games it just showed him that this team has potential to win for years to come. He came over from a championship dynasty in Chicago and he came to Calgary who supposedly going to be in the bottom four of the standings. Yet they made the playoffs, and took out the Canucks in the first round. Bollig had 5 points in 62 contests but was a difference maker in the playoffs. Bollig brings in a solid power forward presence with a big body. Look for more out of Brandon Bollig next season.

5. David Wolf

David Wolf was inserted into the lineup for Game 2 on Sunday. The Flames needed help because Micheal Ferland was unavailable for the contest. Wolf, who entered the contest with three games worth of NHL experience, made his playoff debut. He had three hits in 10:25 minutes of ice time. From what we saw from David Wolf out of his first game it was nothing special. He did not show that much skill or ability to play that role that Ferland played.

Emile Poirer

He looks good. Should be a good prospect when he comes up for the Flames.
