We may get to have the first taste of Connor McDavid’s NHL experience here in Calgary. Against an Oilers team who has a new GM, and a new Head Coach. The Flames will get to face the draft phenom that was supposedly compared to being the “next Crosby.”
Connor McDavid will likely get his first taste of NHL action against the Calgary Flames.
The Edmonton Oilers, who are widely expected to select McDavid with the No. 1 pick in this month’s NHL Draft, released their 2015 pre-season schedule on Monday. It reveals they will open against the Flames on Sept. 21 with split-squad games at Rexall Place and the Scotiabank Saddledome.
McDavid is projected to go to the Oilers first overall in next week’s NHL Draft. The Erie Otters star scored 44 goals and had 76 assists in 47 games this season while also winning gold for Canada at the world juniors.
Who knows if the Flames roster will be shaken up but if not it should be a hard fought battle in the pre-season and McDavid’s first NHL action will be against the hard fighting Flames.
