Sharks blank the Blackhawks, ending their 3 game winning streak

Wrap-up

The San Jose Sharks came into Tuesdays game a little bit sluggish as of late, but they ended up shutting out the red hot Blackhawks 2-0 with goals from Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton. The ultimate deciding factor in this game came late in the first period as Brandon Mashinter appeared to score a goal but it was waved off for goalie interference, from a coaches review. Quick notes:

  • Martin Jones earned his 5th shutout of the season.
  • The Blackhawks were shutout for the 4th time this season.
  • Artemi Panarin did not play in this game due to illness.
  • Dallas has closed the gap to just 3 points in the Central with 3 games in hand on the Hawks. The two teams play each other at the United Center Thursday.
  • Sharks continue to stay in the playoff picture, as a surging Ducks team only trail them by 1 point for second in the Pacific, but they have a safe 6 point lead on the Arizona Coyotes. The Sharks return home Thursday to play the Calgary Flames.
