Keith Kinkaid gets 1st NHL Shutout

After much needed rest for the All Star netminder for the Devils, Keith Kinkaid comes in relief against a high powered attack in the Los Angeles Kings. Anze Kopitar, Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter have combined for 131 points coming into today’s game. A big task for the young goalie. But with the Devils recent play, they hoped to continue with their good play of hockey.

Coach Hynes understands that Keith Kinkaid is a big part of the team and wants him to get more experience between the pipes. He proved that tonight with an outstanding 28 saves. Thanks to a nice wrist shot by David Schlemko to give the Devils the game winning goal. *Update* Joseph Blandisi is credited with the goal.

This is a big moment for the 26 year old. ┬áKeith stated, “A long time coming. Hopefully it opens up the floodgates.”, after being the first star of the game. Big confidence boost for him moving forward as the New Jersey Devils fight to stay in the playoff race.

The Devils now improve to 29-21-7. Standing 3rd with 65 points in the Metropolitan.
