Oilers trade rights of Larsen to Vancouver in exchange for Conditional 5th round pick

The Edmonton Oilers announced today that they have traded the rights of D Philip Larsen to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a conditional 2017 5th round pick.

Larsen, 26, currently a member of Jokerit Helsinki of the KHL, hasn’t played in the NHL since 2013-2014. He played 30 games with the Oilers that year recording 3 goals, 9 assists and 12 points.

He has 12 goals and 38 points in 54 games with Jokerit.

The Canucks plan to sign Larsen come July 1st so he can join the team in 2016-2017.

Larsen was drafted in the 5th round (149th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The 5th round pick could potentially become a 4th round pick in 2017 based of specific production. The specifics however are unavailable.
