The New York Rangers have finally clinched a playoff berth. The Rangers defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2, on Monday night to ensure their spot in the 2016 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Despite losing their captain to injury, the Rangers eyes are now on the postseason. Their window for winning is closing, so they have to buckle down and make a splash this year.
New York is expected to play the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of this year’s playoffs, although that could change.
They have been so close to clinching for a week now, but lost three straight, including consecutive losses to the Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres, who are both eliminated from the postseason.
