The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenseman Morgan Rielly and centre Nazem Kadri to six year contract extensions. Both were set to become restricted free agents this off season.
Rielly, 22, who is the Leafs anchor on the blue line had an outstanding season in a disappointing season in Toronto. Rielly had his highest point total since his first season in 2013-2014. He had 9 goals, 27 assists and 36 points. The contract has an AAV of $5 000 000 and worth a total of $30 000 000 over the six years.
Kadri on the other hand, who turns 26 at the beginning of next season, had a good season tallying 17 goals and 45 points in 76 games. The 2nd highest point total in his career. Kadri’s contract was a little cheaper than Rielly’s coming in at $27 000 000 over six years. That is an AAV of $4 500 000.
The Leafs still have a few restricted free agents to sign in the likes of Peter Holland, Martin Marincin, Garrett Sparks and more.
