Holtby strong, Capitals beat Flyers 4-1

Braden Holtby was solid as the Washington Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers to take a commanding 2-0 series lead on Saturday night at the Verizon Center.

The Flyers peppered Holtby with 42 shots, but had no answer to the Vezina Trophy favoured goaltender.

They out-shot Washington 19-5 in the first period.

Philadelphia has had a problem with taking penalties in this series. It hurt them in Game 1, along with Game 2, as Washington capitalized on the powerplay, going 2-2 on the man advantage.

The Capitals were coming off a 2-0 win in Game 1 of this series, with Holtby picking up the shutout. Washington now holds a 2-0 series lead, with Game 3 on Monday, at Wells Fargo Center.

Steve Mason made 19 saves for the Flyers.
