Lightning Win, Take Series Over Detroit 4-1

The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially eliminated the Detroit Red Wings in 5 games with their victory Thursday. It was an incredibly hard-fought game in which neither team deserved to lose. It took until the third period for any team to score as both goalies, especially Ben Bishop, were standing on their respective heads. The only scoring play came with 1:42 left in the third period when Mrazek played it along the wall, Callahan intercepted the puck and slid it to Killorn who made no mistake scoring his 3rd of the playoffs. The Lightning will now face whoever wins the series between the New York Islanders and the Florida Panthers which is currently tied 2-2.

The first star of this game was definitely Ben Bishop, making 34 stops to earn his 4th career playoff shutout. This was amidst multiple breakaways from Sheahan, Larkin, and Helm and one partial breakaway from Datsyuk. Honorable mention to Pavel Datsyuk as this reportedly may be his last game since the player has expressed interest in going back home to Russia for family reasons. If the magic man retires he will do so with 918 points in 953 regular season games, and 113 points in 157 playoff games. He is also the winner of two Stanley Cups, 4 Lady Byngs, 3 Selkes, and one plus/minus award at the NHL level. He has had a successful career to say the least and we at We Live For Hockey wish him the best if he decides to head to Russia.
