Devils Home Opener POV

After last night’s home win over a physical and relentless Ducks team. The first period of the home opener started off with Devils center Vernon Fiddler and Ryan Kesler. From what I saw after the faceoff the spunk and internal fire of Fiddler’s mindset was “Listen Kesler you won’t pipe down these fans.” Indeed Vernon ruffled the feathers to send a message early.

The Ducks did get a favorable call where Vatanen eventually cashed in on a power play goal. Before the period ended I told people “Don’t be surprised if our power play starts clicking because The Ducks are getting tired, and flat footed.”

When my friend Lou D’Elia had me do The Jersey Joe Corner where Taylor Hall had scored 2 power play goals. Lou asked me if we were going to win I went to say “I can’t jinx it, and it’s all about good karma we need from our fan base.”

After watching that Devils team establish a physical second and third period with Zacha, Auvitu body checking stick canceling tactics the force stayed in the Devils favor. Cory Schneider made an amazing save however that really amped up the crowd.

For the last 4 years I haven’t felt as much electricity in the building since the 2011-2012 team. Personally I feel after the way last night’s game went I see the team sticking together as a deep line, super stingy defense.

Cam Fowler on the Ducks impressed me a whole lot, and I can see why trade rumors could lead Shero to get Fowler.

To be quite honest I see 1 or 2 moves bolstering this Devils team from making the playoffs. With McLeod and Bastian looking like they will be in Albany next season I see a great era of Devils hockey progressing each day.

With wins like that I want to see the Devils keep taking each game as if it was a playoff game.
