Schmaltz to Make Blues Debut vs. Avs

ST. LOUIS – After posting 3 goals and 22 assists through 42 games with the Chicago Wolves this season, defenseman and Blues prospect Jordan Schmaltz will make his NHL debut tonight against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center (7 pm CT).

Schmaltz was selected in the first round (25th overall) by the Blues during the 2012 NHL Draft.

The move will serve as a shakeup to a struggling St. Louis team that comes into tonight’s game against Colorado losers of five straight games and currently on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. The Blues trail the Los Angeles Kings by one point for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Schmaltz offers the Blues a two-way, puck-moving defender, which the team hopes will help to fill some of the void left by the trade of defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to the Washington Capitals.
