The first trade of the off season has hit as the Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward Jonathan Drouin from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for defenseman Mikhail Sergachev.
Along with Sergachev the Lightning receive a 2018 2nd round pick and the Canadiens receive a 2018 6th round pick.
Drouin, 22, played his first full season in the NHL this uear tallying 21 goals and 53 points in 73 games played. Drouin is an RFA and will need to sign his first contract after his entry level deal. After a holdout in 2015-2016, Drouin showed his full potential this season.
Sergachev started the year with the Canadiens playing 4 games with them and posting a +1 rating. In Windsor, Sergachev posted 10 goals, 43 points and a +22 rating in 50 games with the Spitfires. Sergachev was Montreal’s 9th overall selection in 2016.
