Sabres acquire Beaulieu from Canadiens

The Buffalo Sabres made a trade today acquiring 24 year old defenseman Nathan Beaulieu from the Montreal Canadiens.

Going back to the Canadiens is Buffalo’s 3rd round pick in this year’s Entry Draft. The pick is 68th overall.

The current RFA is coming off his best season at the NHL level where he recorded 4 goals, 28 points, 44 penalty minutes and a plu-8 rating in 74 games this season. The 6’2, 205lbs defenseman from Strathroy, Ontario has 60 points and 152 penalty minutes in 225 career games all coming with the Habs.

Beaulieu is a left handed shot and was drafted in the 1st round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Canadiens 17th overall. Beaulieu was likely to be exposed in the Expansion Draft.
