Vancouver Game Review and More

At the moment, The Arizona Coyotes are not doing so hot. Last night they took on the Vancouver Canucks In Glendale at Gila River Arena. The Yotes took a 2-1 loss against them. Vancouver scored in the first period 06:27, the goal was by Jake Virtanen (3), ASST: Jared McCann (6), Don Hamhuis (5). Later in the second period, The Coyotes very own Martin Hanzal (7) scored our lone goal at 02:38, ASST: Max Domi (22), Anthony Duclair (13). Then Sadly the GWG was by Jannik Hansen (16), ASST: Christopher Tanev (11), Henrik Sedin (29).

The last goal by Vancouver was very hard to watch because it went off two of our own Coyotes, Connor Murphy then deflected to Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Louis had not saved it before it got into the back of the net. The Coyotes and the Canucks both had 8 penalty minutes. The Yotes capitalized on only one of the four power plays. The Coyotes penalty kill was amazing the Canucks did not score on any of their power plays. Vancouver had 15 hits, Arizona had 25.

The Coyotes had 36 Faceoff win while the Canucks trailed with only 34. The Canucks had only 1 breakaway while the Coyotes had 2. Arizona had 9 takeaways while Vancouver only had 4. For blocked shots, Arizona had 20 while Vancouver had 22. With only about 1:30 left in the 3rd, Tippet decided to pull Louis to have an extra attacker. That did not work. Again, The bad guys took this one, 2-1. Top three stars of the game were, #1- Ryan Miller, #2- Jake Virtanen, and #3- Max Domi.

In other news, Today, Thursday February 11, 2016, Mike Smith was between the pipes for most of practice today. Hopefully he had enough rest time and practice time that he can get us some wins this second half of the season, since Domingue and Lindback have managed to give away these last 5 games and potentially the playoffs spot. I believe in the guys and they will get back up on their feet and get back onto that wild card with the help of Mike Smith.

The Coyotes next game is at Gila River on February 12, 2016 at 7:00 MT against the Calgary Flames. This game is their “Valentines Day game”. ¬†The game will be on FS-AZ and FS-AZ+. Currently CGY is 24-25-3 and in 6th place in the Pacific division with 51 points, right behind the Coyotes. ARI is 24-23-6 with 53 points and currently in 5th place in the Pacific division.

Go Yotes! Lauren.
